Bankrupting casinos before they bankrupt us
This week, we're launching a new campaign, In the Red, which aims to persuade casino investors Neil G. Bluhm (of SugarHouse) and Ron Rubin (of Foxwoods) to abandon their plans for casinos in Philadelphia.
We'll be doing that through a variety of methods, including showing up when they least expect it, and focusing public attention on their lenders such as banks. Please join us at our first event as part of this new campaign, this Wednesday.
PNC Bank: Lead the Way — Don't Lend to Neil Bluhm!
Wednesday, September 16
8:45 AM, sidewalk outside of 1600 Market Street
We're choosing to do this tomorrow because that's the day SugarHouse goes before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to receive a rubber stamp for other parts of its financing. Let the corrupt processes occur without us — we have more important work to do through direct action right here in Philadelphia.
Our members and our organization are committed to a fully casino-free city, so stay tuned for events targeting Ron Rubin of Foxwoods.
Please join us as we launch In the Red. Help us spread the truth about the damage these casinos will inflict to families, communities, local businesses and our city budget. With your continuing pressure, these predatory casinos will be exposed for the poor investments they are, and Bluhm and Rubin's slots parlors will be driven out.
We're not shy about saying it. We're here to bankrupt the casinos — before they have a chance to bankrupt our communities. Join us.
